Common Questions

When should I book my visit or event?

Reservations for the 2026 Christmas season open October 1. The earlier you book, the better your chances of securing your preferred date and time, especially for popular evenings and weekends in December. Whenever possible, Santa recommends booking at least six weeks in advance.

What areas do you serve?

The Gem State Santa Claus proudly serves families, businesses, photographers, and community events throughout Southeast Idaho, including American Falls, Pocatello, Chubbuck, Blackfoot, Lava Hot Springs and surrounding communities. Additional locations may be available based on scheduling and may require an additional travel fee.

What does Santa bring to the visit?

What Santa brings depends on the experience you select. Some custom experiences include materials or supplies provided by Santa, while traditional home visits focus on personal interaction, storytelling, Christmas wishes, and time together. If you would like Santa to distribute gifts during your visit, those gifts are provided by the host and arranged with Santa in advance.

Can I book a private home visit?

Absolutely. Private home visits are at the heart of what The Gem State Santa Claus offers. Choose from the Classic Home Visit, Signature Santa Home Visit, or one of Santa’s custom Christmas experiences. Each visit is thoughtfully prepared around your family, traditions, and the information you provide before Santa arrives.

Are there any age restrictions?

Christmas wonder has no age limit. Santa visits can include young children, teenagers, parents, grandparents, and anyone else who wants to share in the Christmas spirit. Reservations must be made by an adult age 18 or older. Family pets are welcome to be part of the experience too, provided they are well-behaved, properly supervised, and comfortable around Santa and other guests. Each experience is adapted to the people—and sometimes pets—participating so everyone can feel welcome and included.

Can we take our own photos with Santa?

Absolutely. Families and hosts are encouraged to take their own photos throughout the visit, and Santa will gladly make time for individual, family, and group photographs. Unless specifically arranged as part of a separate photography event, Santa does not provide a photographer or finished photographs.

Can Santa hand out gifts that we provide?

Yes. Santa can distribute host-provided gifts during many visits. Gifts should be prepared and arranged with Santa in advance so they can be incorporated naturally into the experience without spoiling any Christmas surprises.

Can Santa include our family traditions or special requests?

Absolutely. Your Christmas belongs to your family, and Santa is there to become part of it—not replace the traditions that already make it special. The Pre-Visit Form gives you an opportunity to share traditions, interests, special requests, and other details that can help Santa thoughtfully prepare for your visit.

What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?

Plans sometimes change, and Santa will do his best to work with you.

Rescheduling:

If your visit can be rescheduled, there is no penalty or rescheduling fee. A new date and time are subject to Santa’s availability.

If you cancel:

You will receive a full refund of payments made, less a $10 processing fee.

If Santa must cancel:

You will receive a full refund with no processing fee. Santa will also make a reasonable effort to provide one complimentary visit during the 2026 Christmas season at a mutually agreeable date and time. If that cannot be arranged, the complimentary visit may be scheduled during the 2027 Christmas season.
